Tourism and Economic Development

Calvert County Department of Economic Development (CCDED)

Rottman Creative Group (RCG) embarked their relationship with Calvert County Department of Economic Development (CCDED) years ago, to promote the numerous attractions surrounding the county’s beautiful location and historical significance. CCDED has worked to promote the heritage and opportunity surrounding the region and their efforts have grown into creating an adventurous attraction area for the state. RCG collaborated with the organization in developing valuable pieces to further increase tourism and the county’s appeal. A few examples shown include Calvert County Maryland’s yearly Calendar of Events, Visitor’s Guide, and Group Tour and Travel Guide.

It’s simple to understand the importance of graphics in the region’s brochures and guides, so RCG incorporated a generous amount of valuable, symbolic photos of the county on each piece to promote the attractive sites, fun activities, and tempting seafood cuisine. The yearly Calendar of Events began with distinct graphics, defining the region’s presentation and unique value. The brochure unfolded easily into a colorful portrayal of an entire year of festivities. It was packed with concerts, live music, guided tours, canoe trips, art shows and more, followed by brief descriptions and contact information.

The welcoming Visitor’s Guide was also attractive and manageable, filled with enticing graphics centered on discovery and amusement. An inviting front cover unfolded into an easy Table of Contents with useful information including tours, guides, attractions, beaches, lodging, shopping, and restaurants. It was a useful item that provided everything you’d need for an organized and relaxed stay. It also conveniently listed all the numbers needed to ensure a comfortable experience. RCG created a tone that presented an inviting and resourcefully accommodating piece.

The Group Tour and Travel Guide magazine was another successful promoting tool that gave personal depth and clarity to the county’s attractions. It provided a concise historical overview, personal message from the county department, and sample itineraries to make a visitor’s stay more enjoyable. The colors were vivid and captivating and the graphics ranged from the excitement of the adventurous trails and beaches, to the relaxation of the river and bay. Over all, the magazine was a perfect design to spark interest in a variety of experiences and generate appreciation for one of Maryland’s most beautiful regions.
