Southern Maryland has maintained a superlative reputation for its scenic, agricultural heritage that continues to cultivate regional pride and local appreciation from the community and beyond. The Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission is a collaboration of Southern Maryland counties that celebrate the region´s fresh quality, cultural beauty, and pristine originality. In order to craft unique and fitting guides for the commission´s efforts, Rottman Creative Group (RCG) wanted to combine the essence of its rich farm lands and festive heritage to produce a blend of color and activity found no where better than Southern Maryland.

RCG imagined the pieces to reveal the elements that contributed to the success of Southern Maryland´s agriculture and scenic charm. RCG designed a Farmers´Markets Guide that presented all the necessary market information, and best harvest seasons for the region´s local produce, as well as regional wholesale farmers´auctions and a convenient map of the area. RCG wanted to present the guide in a lively and growth-oriented fashion, so the design indulged in bold greens, yellows, and oranges that created a vivid idea of the taste of the agriculture. Each page was bordered with graphics of fresh produce in bright color and contrast, which reflected healthy nourishment and great abundance.

The ¨Agritourism Guide¨ began with the statement, ¨Celebrate the Bounty of our Lands & Waterways,¨ to insinuate quantity of product and quality of life by its water channels. The guide also provided a plentiful amount of events, farms, and heritage sites, outlined with vibrant floral borders. The graphics—whether of the sweet honey, delicious corn, fresh crabs, ruby red strawberries or more—demonstrated the exclusivity of the produce and Southern Maryland splendor. The fusion of the variety of products was sewn through each page to put forth an array of economic prosperity to the region´s agricultural lifestyle.
